July, the 8th - 15th, 2006
As in the previous years, the seven day's workshop is dedicated to all musicians, either beginners or advanced students who would like to get inspired and want to improve their instrumental, vocal and improvisational abilities and meet other musicians and teachers. The system of lessons is focused on individual musical development and involves the jazz theory and concerns on its practical usage in various ensembles. Various instruments are taught in individual instrumental and vocal classes including saxophones, trumpets, trombones, flutes, pianos, guitars, acoustic and electric basses, drums and others. The afternoon ensemble lessons are designed to rehearse a selected repertoire and practice the ability to play and musically cooperate with other musicians in the band. The theoretical subjects are covered in the afternoon lectures and include improvisation, jazz harmony, stage interaction, arranging, history of jazz and other related topics. The teachers are the top jazz instrumentalists and vocalists from the Czech Republic, France, USA, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden and Poland. The night jam-sessions in the attractive jazz club atmosphere are an integral part of the workshop and as the previous year will be hosted by a beautiful culture center Dobeska located in the neighborhood of the school.
